Ocean County is located in the southeast portion of New Jersey.

The County covers an area of 916 square miles, 636 of which are land and 280 of which are water, second largest county in the state Burlington County is larger. The highest point is one of three unnamed hills (one in Jackson Township, the other two in Plumsted Township) that reach at least 230 feet in elevation. The lowest elevation in the county is sea level. The county boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in New Jersey. It is home to Island Beach State Park and the resort of Seaside Heights. It is also home to Six Flags Great Adventure, and the famous New Jersey Pine Barrens.

Population: Ocean County

As of the census of 2010, there are 576,567 people and 2016 data estimates that the population has increased to 592,497. As of 2015 there were 222,494 households. The 2010 population density is 917.0/mi. The 2015 data reveals that there are 280,494 housing units. There are 222,494 households out of which 23.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67% were married couples living together, 9.6% have a female householder with no husband present, 27.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 19% had someone living alone who was 60 years of age or older. Its county seat is Toms River.

Population: Waretown (Ocean Township)

As per the 2015 update to 2010 Census, the population in Waretown (Ocean Township) was 8,850, which is a 6.2% increase since the 2010 Census. The population represents 3,799 households of which 36.2% are children under 18 living at home, 57.5% were married couples living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 10.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 26.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27.
